Job Description
UNDP is the UN’s global development network whose focus is to help countries build and share solutions to the challenges of sustainable development as informed by the 2030 sustainable development agenda. The overall focus for UNDP Tanzania is to support the Government of Tanzania to improve lives of the people through strategic programmatic areas of Inclusive Democratic Governance, Inclusive Economic Growth and Sustainable Livelihoods and Environment Sustainability, Climate Change and Resilience.
Context
The UNDP Tanzania Country Office is expanding its partnerships and resource mobilization efforts to deliver on national development priorities and the SDGs. The office engages with a diverse range of partners, including bilateral donors, UN agencies, multilateral institutions, and the private sector, to strengthen financing for sustainable development. As the organization explores new and emerging donor landscapes, effective coordination and tracking of partnership opportunities have become increasingly critical to ensure strategic alignment, timely engagement, and compliance with donor requirements.
Through this assignment, the Volunteer will support the coordination and documentation of resource mobilization initiatives across all Country Office portfolios, contributing directly to UNDP’s visibility, strategic positioning, and partnership growth.
Leadership and Strategy
Task description
- Support the assessment and mapping of Country Office opportunities for resource mobilization, identifying current and potential partners, including new and emerging donors.
- Analyze partnership and funding trends in key national development and sectoral policies to inform engagement strategies.
- Conduct research and prepare briefs on potential partners and donor opportunities for management consideration.
- Support the design and updating of outreach and publicity materials geared towards partners and donors.
- Track, document, and support coordination of ongoing resource mobilization initiatives across portfolios.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with partner requirements, including systematized reporting and visibility obligations.
- Contribute to the analysis and synthesis of information to inform the Country Office strategy for partnering with UN agencies under the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and joint programming mechanisms.
- Provide support in organizing external events and engagements to raise UNDP’s profile with development partners.
The Volunteer will gain insights into UNDP’s Tanzania Country Office strategic approach to resource mobilization and partnership development, while contributing to effective coordination and donor engagement for sustainable development impact.
Assignment requirements
Required experience
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications, advocacy, or business development.
- Experience in business development within the UN System is desirable.
- Previous experience with a multilateral or international organization is an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with web-based management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, synthesize, and communicate partnership and funding information effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to work under minimal supervision.
