Dispatcher Underground Mining at Geita Gold Mine

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

To provide message relay services within the UG Mining processes, safely manage and maintain underground machine movements and status. Ensure every person going underground is Tagged on the board and accounted for before firing.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Monitor and update the digital/physical tagging system to ensure accurate personnel tracking throughout the shift.
• Coordinate with Emergency Response Teams during underground incidents to provide location data and support rapid response.
• Maintain real‑time logs of mining activities, equipment assignments, and operator allocation for better shift transparency.
• Assist in optimizing equipment allocation to reduce delays and improve shift productivity.
• Ensure effective handovers between shifts by preparing clear, concise reports for incoming dispatchers and supervisors.
• Support production teams by tracking cycle times and highlighting inefficiencies for continuous improvement.
• Validate operator feedback on equipment performance and communicate abnormalities promptly to maintenance.
• Monitor environmental conditions reported from underground (e.g., ventilation or water issues) and escalate as required.
• Assist supervisors in coordinating scheduled maintenance windows by ensuring machines are available at the correct times.
• Contribute to daily production meetings with accurate, timely dispatch of data and insights.
• Uphold company safety policies by ensuring immediate reporting and documentation of any anomalies or unsafe conditions.
• Participate in system or technology upgrades linked to dispatching (e.g., digital dispatch tools, data-capture platforms).
• Maintain clean, organized, and audit‑ready dispatch records for operational and compliance use.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Completion of Secondary School Education (Form 4)

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• A Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience as Mine Dispatcher
• Experience in the use of 2-way radio communication device
• General Overview of UG mining processes including CAF filling
• Understand UG Mining Terminologies
• Proper Planning and execution of works
