Pamoja Leo is a dedicated charity committed to supporting women and children and preventing children from growing up in orphanages. The organization empowers women and families to raise children within loving family environments where they can thrive and feel a sense of belonging.
Our main projects include:
- The Baby Project – Providing life-saving baby milk to vulnerable children and families
- Family First – Supporting orphaned, abandoned, vulnerable, and abused children aged 2–6 by placing them within loving family environments
- The Hope Project – Strengthening child protection systems and equipping communities and schools with tools and knowledge to safeguard children against abuse and exploitation
Role Overview
The Fundraising and Communications Coordinator will play a key role in developing and leading fundraising initiatives to support Pamoja Leo’s programs. The role focuses on local and international fundraising, volunteer-led campaigns, donor engagement, grant applications, communications, and impact reporting.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to strengthening families and ensuring every child grows up in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fundraising and Income Generation
- Design and implement effective fundraising campaigns to generate unrestricted funding
- Support and inspire volunteer-led fundraising initiatives locally and internationally
- Develop and manage relationships with donors, funders, and partners to secure ongoing support
2. Grant Management and Applications
- Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with Pamoja Leo’s mission
- Write compelling grant applications and funding proposals
- Ensure accurate reporting and alignment with donor requirements
3. Relationship Building
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential funders and stakeholders
- Develop partnerships with organizations such as Rotary Clubs and local businesses in Tanzania
- Create communication strategies to strengthen long-term donor and sponsor engagement
4. Project Oversight
- Ensure project data is collected, updated, and compiled into reports
- Meet with project leads to gather impact stories and document individual cases
- Coordinate project impact reporting for donors and stakeholders
- Support the preparation of internal and external impact reports
5. Communication and Campaign Management
- Create impactful communication campaigns highlighting Pamoja Leo’s mission and impact
- Develop online content and storytelling campaigns for social media and donor engagement
- Engage local and international influencers and philanthropists
- Lead the creation of newsletters, updates, and stakeholder reports
6. Monitoring and Reporting
- Track fundraising performance, donor engagement, and campaign effectiveness
- Evaluate donor feedback to improve fundraising and communication strategies
- Prepare donor impact reports and communication materials
7. Corporate Sponsorship Development
- Develop and implement strategies to increase corporate fundraising
- Grow SME and corporate partnerships for Pamoja Leo
- Represent the organization externally and strengthen its public profile locally and nationally
8. Creativity and Innovation
- Develop innovative fundraising and communication ideas
- Design and implement new campaigns
- Create artwork and designs for newsletters, infographics, and digital communications
9. External Partnerships
- Maintain strong working relationships with government institutions and local NGOs
- Coordinate communication with program partners
- Work with volunteers, interns, and partner organizations to strengthen organizational capacity
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Social Services, Communications, Marketing, International Development, or a related field
- Fluency in English and Swahili
- Strong digital and social media skills including Canva, Microsoft Office, email communication, and online communication platforms
- Willingness and ability to learn new digital systems and tools quickly
- Proven experience in fundraising, communications, or development within a non-profit organization
- Strong storytelling and advocacy skills
- Experience building relationships with donors, funders, and stakeholders
- Experience with grant research, proposal writing, and donor reporting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team
- Strong organizational and Excel skills
- Passion for child welfare, family empowerment, and community development
