- Plan and oversee all corrective maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and component change-outs; coordinate rapid response to breakdowns and drive root cause analysis (RCFA) to eliminate repeat failures.
- Provide expert technical leadership on complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural issues on mobile cranes; diagnose failures accurately and implement effective, cost-efficient repair solutions.
- Conduct regular inspections of mobile cranes to verify operational readiness, structural integrity, and compliance with manufacturer specifications and applicable lifting standards.
- Ensure proper calibration, function testing, and certification of Load Moment Indicators (LMI), safety devices, and control systems; manage all load testing documentation and certification records.
- Enforce rigorous quality control across all maintenance and repair activities; review and approve repair methods, work procedures, and workmanship standards.
- Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and permit-to-work compliance for all workshop and field maintenance activities; investigate incidents and near misses thoroughly and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and complete maintenance records, service histories, and equipment files in SAP (CMMS); prepare daily, weekly, and monthly technical and performance reports for the Foreman – Engineering Services.
- Manage the mobile crane spare parts inventory; coordinate with Supply Chain and Procurement for timely ordering of critical and insurance spares, parts, and materials.
- Manage workshop facilities, tools, and specialised crane tooling to high standards of readiness and housekeeping control; ensure safe storage and handling of hazardous materials.
- Liaise with OEM representatives and specialist service providers for technical support, warranty claims, upgrades, and services that exceed in-house capability; ensure quality and cost control.
- Systematically coach and develop team members with a focus on skills transfer, local capability building, and reducing dependence on external technical support over time.
