Job Description
Job Brief:
- The Lifting Foreman plays a critical role of follow up the preparation, organisation and execution phases of mechanical lifting operations.
- Moreover, this individual serves as a vital source of support and guidance to CONTRACTOR(s) and SUBCONTRACTOR(s) lifting personnel
- His/her primary goal is to guarantee safety and efficiency of mechanical lifting operations.
- Be conversant/comply with Tanzania Legislation, COMPANY Philosophy and Procedures, and Instructions; ensure full compliance with international standards with respect to system security and reporting.
- Promote HSE Culture (including Lifting Safety Companies) to prevent and reduce lifting incidents.
- Implement the Lifting High Potential incidents analysis actions and ensure they are implementing
Qualifications / Experience Required:
- Focal point for all execution mechanical - lifting related activities at Site; reviews and advise Site Lifting Spcilaist(s) on non-conformities or any improvements required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction as Lifting Foreman
- Lifting Foreman and/or industry related qualifications such as ISO/LEEA/EAL/CPA etc
- Broad and extensive knowledge in lifting equipment and steel structural design
- In-depth understanding of mechanical lifting discipline
- Experience of follow-up method statements, lifting operations plans and risk assessments
- Excellent personal organisational skills
Required Competencies:
- Ability to pay attention to detail especially to equipment with home-made and tailor-made modifications.
- Ability to evaluate the integrity of the primary and secondary structure as well as reinforcement
- Ability to train and couch workforce personnel on site(s)
- Ability to work under pressure
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all mechanical lifting operations within site, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with lifting plans, safety procedures, and industry regulations.
- Conduct pre-lift safety checks and risk assessments.
- Inspect and verify lifting equipment, slings, shackles, and rigging gear before use.
- Coordinate with Crane Operators, Riggers, and Engineers for seamless lifting execution.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to permit-to-work systems and lifting procedures.
- Provide guidance and training to rigging teams on safe lifting practices.
- Report any incidents, near misses, or equipment malfunctions to management.
- Maintain proper documentation of lifting activities and equipment inspections
- Working between 6 days a week 10 hours per day. There may be time where you'll need to work longer hours, if you need to do some overtime or cover other staff operators, forklift operators, man lift operators, slingers, riggers, scaffolders
- Any other duties assigned by COMPANY management.
