Reporting to: Senior Mining Engineer

Duration: Permanent

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safe work practices; report and investigate all incidents in line with established procedures and timelines. Support additional accident investigations as required.
  • Identify, report, and/or rectify all unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards within the workplace to maintain a safe operating environment.
  • Deliver timely development and stoping designs and schedules to the mining department to support safe and efficient production.
  • Plan and coordinate mine infrastructure projects to support operational efficiency, service delivery, and mine expansion.
  • Conduct regular underground inspections of development and stoping areas to ensure safety standards and production efficiency are maintained.
  • Provide accurate monthly reconciliations of planned vs. forecasted vs. actual performance.
  • Ensure the timely submission of all required reports with accurate data and relevant content.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual business plans and operational budgets.
  • Manage the effective and timely preparation of mining stope notes that align with operational goals.
  • Maintain accurate and current mine designs, incorporating up-to-date geological and geotechnical data, ensuring compliance with planning, execution, and approval protocols.
  • Support the development of short to medium-term mine plans and scheduling projects.
  • Contribute to the implementation and upkeep of robust, fit-for-purpose planning systems within the Mining department.
  • Maintain current level extraction plans for both development and stoping activities.
  • Reconcile mine design and scheduling assumptions against actual performance; investigate and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement.

Qualification Requirements

  • Tertiary Degree in Mining Engineering

Experience Requirements

Minimum four (4) years' Underground mining experience with a strong understanding of the operational constraints on mine plans and designs.

Skills / Knowledge Requirements

  • Relevant experience gained as a mining engineer with planning and design experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of underground mining practices, strategic planning, scheduling life-of-mine planning and production planning.
  • Effective verbal communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to use mine design software Deswik, Aegis or similar.
  • Ability to prepare sound mining plans and schedules for all current and future areas of operations based on a number of logical development options
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Pro-active ability to work effectively within a small team whilst also being able to perform effectively in an autonomous environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply positive and constructive influencing and interpersonal skills to stakeholders to achieve results through collaboration, commitment, and teamwork.
