About National Housing Corporation (NHC)

The National Housing Corporation (NHC) was established through Act No. 45 of 1962 with the responsibility of addressing urban housing challenges in Tanzania. The Corporation was later reconstituted under Act No. 2 of 1990 to facilitate the provision of housing and other buildings for public use. In 2005, the Act was amended to enable NHC to operate on sound commercial principles.

NHC's vision is to become a leading real estate development and management firm in Africa, while its mission is to provide and facilitate quality housing and building solutions for the general public.

To support ongoing and upcoming in-house construction projects, NHC invites applications from qualified, dynamic, and ethical Tanzanians for the following positions.

  1. Civil Engineer II (6 Posts)

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure capital projects are implemented according to approved plans, designs, and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee physical and capital planning activities and coordinate resource allocation.
  • Monitor project implementation to ensure budgets and timelines are achieved.
  • Inspect civil engineering infrastructure and buildings and recommend maintenance actions.
  • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and cost estimates.
  • Participate in procurement processes, including tender preparation, opening, and evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Service Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Graduate Engineer.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.

Salary Scale: TC 4

  1. Quantity Surveyor II (5 Posts)

Key Responsibilities

  • Calculate quantities, material requirements, labour costs, and project completion estimates.
  • Participate in the preparation of contracts and tender documentation.
  • Conduct cost analysis of maintenance and repair works.
  • Undertake feasibility studies and project evaluations.
  • Verify completed work and facilitate contractor payments.
  • Conduct site inspections and assessments.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Economics, Construction Management, Building Surveying, or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (AQRB) as a Graduate Quantity Surveyor.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.

Salary Scale: TC 4

  1. Architect II (12 Posts)

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare architectural designs, drawings, and specifications using manual and computer-aided design software.
  • Assess project feasibility and ensure compliance with planning regulations and environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, quantity surveyors, and construction professionals.
  • Facilitate building permit applications and approvals.
  • Conduct site inspections and evaluate development proposals.
  • Participate in project planning, implementation, and maintenance programmes.
  • Prepare architectural reports and project updates.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Building Design, Architectural Technology, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
  • Registration with AQRB as a Graduate Architect.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.

Salary Scale: TC 4

  1. Technician – Civil (8 Posts)

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out repairs and maintenance of buildings, plumbing systems, and related facilities.
  • Implement maintenance schedules and technical plans.
  • Supervise fabrication and installation of aluminium doors, windows, and curtain walls.
  • Operate and maintain aluminium fabrication equipment and machinery.
  • Inspect materials and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field from a recognized institution.

Salary Scale: TC 2

  1. Safety Officer (6 Posts)

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct health and safety training programmes.
  • Assess operational risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Monitor environmental protection measures and pollution control.
  • Conduct safety inspections and compliance assessments.
  • Prepare safety reports and performance statistics.
  • Support implementation of occupational health and safety management systems.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science and Management, or related field.
  • Valid Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) Construction Safety Certificate.

  1. Record Management Assistant II (3 Posts)

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain file registers.
  • Verify completeness of documentation attached to correspondence.
  • Track file movements and update records.
  • Ensure outgoing correspondence is free from errors and properly signed.
  • Process outgoing mail and maintain records management procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Records Management, Archives Management, or related field from a recognized institution.

Salary Scale: TC 2

  1. Legal Officer II (1 Post)

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review agreements, contracts, and legal documents.
  • Monitor contract renewals, extensions, and terminations.
  • Identify and manage contractual risks.
  • Provide legal opinions and advice on contractual matters.
  • Monitor disputes and recommend appropriate legal action.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognized institution.
  • Successful completion of Practical Legal Training from the Law School of Tanzania.

Salary Scale: TC 3
