Job Description

JamiiAfrica is a dynamic Non-Governmental Organization based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. We are on a mission to foster a well-informed citizenry, cultivate responsive governance, and champion active citizen participation across development agendas – ranging from political participation and governance to livelihoods and the digital economy.

We pride ourselves on creating open, inclusive, safe, and secure spaces for meaningful dialogue, while working closely with like-minded partners to ensure participatory, citizen-centered engagement.

At the core of our work is a commitment to digital democracy, amplifying citizen voices both online and offline to build a more transparent, equitable society.

As we scale our vision, we’re looking for talented creatives who can help bring our ideas to life visually.

Position Overview

We’re on the lookout for two skilled and creative Graphic Designers to join our Digital Democracy Hub. This is more than just a design role—you'll be a visual storyteller helping to shape how citizens connect with information, express themselves, and engage with governance issues.

You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team from other departments to craft eye-catching, informative, and impactful visual content that resonates with diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design a wide range of digital and print materials including infographics, reports, social media content, posters, animations, presentations, and publications.
  • Translate complex ideas (e.g. policy, governance, civic education) into clear and visually engaging designs.
  • Collaborate with content managers and creators (digital advocacy) teams, and program officers to ensure visual consistency across campaigns.
  • Ensure all designs reflect JamiiAfrica’s visual identity, mission, and values.
  • Support the development of brand guidelines and templates for internal and external use.
  • Stay updated with design trends, tools, and techniques, particularly within the civic and digital democracy space.
  • Maintain an organized archive of design files and ensure timely delivery of creative assets.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Outstanding skills in graphic design and passionate on social change
  • Graphics Designer related Certificate or reference
  • Familiarity with modern design software and technologies (Creative Suites and other graphic designing software)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively (team player) in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of digital media, social platforms, and the role of visual content in citizen engagement.
  • Bonus: Skills in motion graphics, animation, or video editing.

What We Offer:

A creative environment where your work directly supports civic engagement and social impact.

The chance to shape narratives and inspire action through design.

A vibrant, inclusive team passionate about democracy, digital innovation, and community empowerment.

Competitive compensation and growth opportunities.
