JOB ROLE

The purpose of this document is to highlight the key responsibilities of the Boiler Laboratory Analyst.

It also describes the KPI for the analyst to ensure good performance at the station, as well as his/her decision rights.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure proper analysis of:
  • Boiler water samples
  • Water treatment samples
  • Water tower samples
• Follow the procedure for each sample as per Laboratory Manual procedures.
• Ensure the proper reagent or chemical is used for specific samples.
• Report expired reagents or chemicals to the Laboratory Technician.
• Ensure that KPIs are within their operating range and report this to his/her Laboratory Technician.
• Ensure specific range data is filled in the non-conformance sheet as per working instructions.
• Raise an Incident Report where required.
• Ensure good housekeeping at the laboratory station.
• Inspect the instruments used for laboratory work.
• Report any damage observed on laboratory instruments.
• Take reasonable care for his/her own health and safety and the health and safety of other people who may be affected by what he/she does or does not do.
• Report any incident that:
  • May affect his/her health
  • Has caused an injury
  • Has impacted the environment
• Perform all tasks with awareness towards the prevention of any form of pollution to the surrounding area and environment.
• Ensure proper handing over at the end of his/her shift.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS

• Basic computer knowledge, including:
  • Excel
  • Word
  • PowerPoint
• Knowledge and skills to interpret data analysis results.
• Skills and knowledge required to check laboratory instrument performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Certificate or Diploma in Laboratory Science or equivalent Laboratory Assistant Course.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar job.
• Experience in sugar laboratory procedures will be an added advantage.

TERMS OF SERVICE

The successful candidate will be engaged on a Permanent Contract.
