JOB ROLE

The purpose of this role is to highlight the key responsibilities of the Boiler Laboratory Analyst. It also describes the KPIs for the Analyst to ensure good performance at the station as well as his/her decision rights.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure proper analysis of boiler water, water treatment and water tower samples by following the procedure for each sample as per Laboratory Manual procedures.
• Ensure the proper reagent/chemical is used for specific samples and report expired reagents/chemicals to the Laboratory Technician.
• Ensure that the KPIs are within their operating range and report this to his/her Laboratory Technician.
• Ensure specific range data is filled in the non-conformance sheet as per working instructions and raise the Incident Report.
• Ensure good housekeeping at the laboratory station.
• Inspect the instruments used and report any damage observed.
• Take reasonable care for his/her own health and safety and that of other people who may be affected by what he/she does or does not do.
• Report any incident that may affect his/her health, has caused an injury, or has impacted the environment.
• Perform all tasks with awareness towards the prevention of any forms of pollution to the surroundings and environment.
• Ensure proper handover at the end of his/her shift.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS

• Basic computer knowledge, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge and skills to interpret data analysis results.
• Skills and knowledge to check laboratory instrument performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Certificate or Diploma in Laboratory Science or equivalent Laboratory Assistant Course.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar job.
• Experience in sugar laboratory procedures will be an added advantage.

TERMS OF SERVICE

The successful candidate will be engaged on a Permanent Contract.
