Key Responsibilities
- Review and vet all corporate facilities agreements after approval from the business.
- Review and prepare corporate securities documentation for lending purposes.
- Issue quality and unambiguous instructions to external lawyers for perfection of securities.
- Manage law firms and external lawyers involved in the perfection of securities.
- Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and charters governing post-approval processes are prepared and implemented.
- Maintain securities data through a defined process or system.
- Develop reliable Management Information Systems (MIS) and various reports for sharing with business teams and Credit.
- Prepare and implement a live securities tracking system and submit weekly progress reports indicating expected completion timelines.
- Prepare and review all lending documentation, including facility agreements and security documents.
- Provide legal opinions and advice to all departments within the Bank.
- Liaise with KCB Group and other subsidiaries on cross-border facilities and international business matters.
Daily Responsibilities
- Prepare facility agreements and offer letters.
- Issue certificates of compliance and certificates confirming securities position to facilitate booking.
- Review securities, update reports, and follow up on pending covenants after disbursement.
- Ensure compliance with credit approvals and provide legal opinions on rectification of Credit Queries (CQs) where necessary before drafting security documents.
- Follow up with business teams regarding expired land rent receipts and insurance policies for all securities held by the Bank.
Minimum Position Qualification Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) – Required.
Professional Qualifications
- Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice – Required.
Additional Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Law or Business – Added Advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience.
