Job Description
The IT Specialist – Applications Support & Application QA is responsible for supporting, monitoring, and ensuring the quality, stability, and performance of business and operational applications used at DP World Tanzania Port & Terminals. This role ensures applications, especially terminal and logistics systems, operate reliably, meet business requirements, and comply with DP World IT, security, and quality standards.
Key Performance Areas:
Applications Support:
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for business and operational applications, including Terminal Operating Systems (TOS), billing, reporting, gate, and vessel-related systems.
- Monitor application performance, availability, and integrations.
- Troubleshoot application issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate resolution with global IT teams and vendors.
- Manage application incidents, service requests, and changes in line with ITIL processes.
- Support application upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
Application Quality Assurance:
- Participate in application testing activities, including functional, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Validate business requirements and ensure application functionality meets operational needs.
- Develop and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts.
- Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution.
- Ensure changes and releases are tested and approved before production deployment.
Business & Operational Support:
- Work closely with Operations, Finance, and other business teams to understand requirements and provide application support.
- Support data validation, reporting accuracy, and system reconciliations.
- Assist with process improvements and automation initiatives.
Compliance, Security & Audit:
- Ensure application access controls are maintained in line with DP World security policies.
- Support periodic access reviews and audit activities.
- Maintain proper documentation, change records, and test evidence.
- Assist in closing audit findings related to application controls and data integrity.
Documentation & Knowledge Management:
- Maintain application documentation, SOPs, test cases, and support guides.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to end users and support teams.
- Maintain application support logs and QA reports.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience and Skills Required:
- 3–5 years of experience in application support and/or application QA.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications in ports, terminals, logistics, or large operational environments are preferred.
- Hands-on experience with testing methodologies and QA processes.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications (TOS experience is a strong advantage).
- Understanding of SDLC, ITIL, and QA best practices.
- Experience with test case creation, defect tracking, and UAT coordination.
- Knowledge of databases (SQL), reporting tools, and application integrations.
- Familiarity with access management, audit controls, and compliance requirements.
