Officer 2 Emergency Response at Geita Gold Mine Tanzania

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

• Provide support to ensure the operation of the Gold Mine is not adversely impacted by emergency issues.
• Maintain the site emergency response program to a standard compatible with international practice and in a timely and cost-effective way.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Respond to site emergencies and carry out emergency response activities during shift operations.
• Serve as an active member of the mine rescue team and participate in fire and evacuation drills for site operations and contractors.
• Participate fully in emergency response training with rescue team members, employees and contractors.
• Inspect, maintain and ensure safe storage and readiness of ERT and rescue equipment.
• Carry out routine inspections and servicing of emergency systems and equipment, including fire extinguishers, hydrants, fire pumps, watercarts, fire detection systems and fire panels.
• Maintain equipment registers, comply with site critical controls standards, work to ERT objectives and targets, and support aerodrome operation compliancy.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Certificate in mine rescue operation issued by an accredited authority or recognized institution.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience in mining operations across open pit and underground rescue.
• Knowledge of The Mining (Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Protection) Regulations, 2010, Part IV Regulation 49 Emergency Preparedness.
• Fire fighting, rope rescue, HAZMAT, SCBA, vehicle extrication, confined space rescue and water rescue.
• Fatigue management, driving and HRM1.
