Job Description

Responsibilities
- Ensure safe work practices by attending all compulsory safety courses and meetings, correctly using required PPE, reporting incidents/ accidents, and fully complying with Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental, and all other site policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHA) and ensure safe work practices are always followed.
- Comply fully with Barrick – North Mara Gold Mine Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Carry out painting, coating, and surface preparation works on workshops, offices, and accommodation facilities in line with approved standards and specifications.
- Inspect surfaces, identify defects, and determine appropriate preparation methods including cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming.
- Ensure all painting works meet required quality, durability, and aesthetic standards.
- Plan and prioritize daily work activities to meet maintenance schedules and operational requirements.
- Properly use, handle, and store paints, chemicals, tools, and equipment in accordance with safety data sheets (SDS) and site requirements.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, safe, and serviceable conditions.
- Report defects, material requirements, and completed works to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with supervisors, maintenance teams, and contractors to ensure efficient execution of tasks.
- Support shutdowns, renovations, and special projects as required.
- Prepare all painted signs required by the Mine.
- Receive and complete work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labor used.
- Maintain inventory of tools and assist with inventory control of materials and equipment.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
- Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects/Maintenance Work.
Qualification requirements
- Trade Certificate or Equivalent VETA Trade test/NVA level I & II
- Sound knowledge of Painting Regulations.
Experience and Competencies needed
- 2-3 years Painter experience in the mining industry.
- Experience in current painting techniques and methods.
- Excellent safety record
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics
- Comfortable using ladders and scaffolding
- Demonstrated ability to operate hand, air, and power tool
