Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Create and optimize life-of-mine (LOM) designs, stope layouts, and schedules (multi-year).
  • Resource & Reserve Management: Manage long-range production shapes, update reserve estimates, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Economic & Risk Analysis: Develop cost models, analyze data, identify cost-reduction/productivity opportunities, and assess long-term risks (geological, logistical, financial).
  • Coordination: Integrate capital projects/infrastructure, work with geologists/engineers/operations, and ensure plans align with corporate goals.
  • Leadership: Mentor junior planners/engineers and supervise technician teams.
  • Compliance: Ensure plans meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Qualification Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related minerals-related discipline from a recognized institution is essential.

Experience And Competencies Needed

  • Extensive 8 years in mine planning, modeling, and operations
  • Proven experience in developing, optimizing, and maintaining long-term (3-10 years) and life-of-mine plans is crucial.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Minemax, GEOVIA)
  • Valid Tanzanian driving license
  • Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness
  • Consistent demonstration of Barrick Core Values
  • Strong conceptual thinking ability
