Job Description
Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in Denver, USA. AGA has operations in more than ten countries across four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 120 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its main office and operations in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. Purpose Of The Role
The Superintendent – Fleet Management (Open Pit Mining) is responsible for leading and coordinating the effective planning, utilization, and maintenance of the open pit mining fleets to ensure maximum availability, reliability, and cost efficiency. The role provides leadership in implementing the approved Open Pit Mining Plan through optimal use of the Fleet Management System (FMS), coordinating pit operations, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. In addition, the role manages, develops, and motivates a team of supervisors and dispatchers to drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all pit operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related field.
- The incumbent must have valid Tanzanian driving License.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in large open pit mining operations, of which at least 5 years must be in a senior supervisory position.
- Hands-on experience with large mining equipment, combined with a well-developed understanding of all mining activities required to effectively manage day-to-day fleet assignments and KPIs in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with Fleet Management Systems (e.g., Modular Dispatching System, Jigsaw fleet management system) is desirable.

JOB TITLE: Superintendent 2 – Fleet Management System
LOCATION: Geita Gold Mine, Tanzania
REPORTS TO: Mining Manager
About The Role
AngloGold Ashanti is seeking an experienced Superintendent 2 – Fleet Management System to provide strategic and operational leadership for open pit fleet management operations at Geita Gold Mine. The role focuses on driving safe, efficient, and data-driven fleet performance to support mine plan delivery and production excellence.
Work Accountabilities
Safety
- Drive a zero-harm culture by ensuring full compliance with safety policies, fatigue management systems, and statutory requirements.
- Lead incident investigations, implement corrective actions, and continuously reduce mobile equipment–related safety risks.
Compliance
- Ensure adherence to Tanzanian mining, environmental, and HSE legislation, including OSHA and NEMC requirements.
- Maintain compliance with company systems, policies, and regulatory reporting obligations.
Production
- Lead fleet management operations to maximize asset utilization, productivity, and delivery of production targets.
- Integrate Fleet Management Systems (Modular Dispatch) with mine planning to optimize haulage efficiency, cycle times, and ore delivery.
Strategic Mine Planning & Development
- Actively contribute to short-, medium-, and long-term mine planning, translating plans into executable fleet strategies.
- Support mining sequence optimization, grade control, risk assessments, and budget and scenario planning.
Quality
- Ensure integrity, accuracy, and effective use of Fleet Management System data for operational excellence.
- Drive short-term interval control and data-driven performance improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Provide accurate, timely production reporting and performance insights to operational and leadership stakeholders.
- Act as a key liaison between Mining, Maintenance, Planning, Geology, Processing, and Safety teams.
Budgeting
- Develop and manage operational budgets for fleet and FMS activities, ensuring cost control and financial discipline.
- Monitor cost performance, conduct variance analysis, and support CAPEX planning and fleet renewal initiatives.
People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the FMS team through structured training, competency frameworks, and succession planning.
- Foster a high-performance culture aligned with company values and Tanzanian labour legislation.
Technology & Systems Advancement
- Champion continuous improvement of Fleet Management Systems, data analytics, and digital mining technologies.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of automation, telemetry, and fatigue management solutions.
Skills & Competencies
Education & Qualification
- A Diploma in Mining Engineering / or Degree in Mining Engineering
- Tanzanian Blasting Certificate of Competency advantageous
- Statutory appointment readiness as per Tanzania Mining Commission guidelines
Experience

- Hands on experience with large mining equipment, combined with a well- developed understanding of all the mining activities required to effectively manage the day-to-day fleet assignments and KPI’s in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with fleet management systems such as Modular Dispatching system would be desirable.
- Strong exposure to production planning, dispatching, and operational leadership
- Knowledge of Tanzanian mining legislative framework and SHEQ standards.
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced technical and operational expertise in open pit mining, fleet utilization, mine planning, haulage modelling, grade control, and Fleet Management Systems, including Modular Dispatch and associated hardware and software.
- Strong analytical, project, and process improvement capability, with a proven track record in cost management, operational optimization, and the development of procedures to improve efficiency and information flow.
- Solid regulatory, systems, and technology knowledge, including mining industry standards, HSE requirements, digital systems, and change management for technology adoption.
- Proven leadership and people development skills, including the design and execution of FMS training matrices, competency frameworks, and capability development across operational and senior management levels.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines, manage service providers, and operate decisively in high-pressure production environments.
