The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit a Superintendent Production Geology to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities
- Provide practical leadership to ensure employees and contractors adhere to site safety standards that exceed world industry standards and applicable legislation.
- Provide technical leadership to the Geology & Technical teams to ensure the best Grade Control techniques and procedures are practiced, to maximise profits by optimal extraction methods.
- Close interaction with the Mine Operations and Processing Departments to achieve weekly, monthly and quarterly gold production targets by delivering 3.32Mt of ore to the Mill.
- Maintain a temporal Mine to Mill reconciliation of ±3% on tonnes, ±5% on grade and ounces. Conduct F1vsF2vsF3 reconciliation for all source materials back to block models and reserves.
- Drive Succession Planning and Mentoring Programs within the Geology team, that delivers sustainable development of future Tanzanian leaders.
- Manage resource conversion and grade control drilling activities, replacing depletion to sustain a ten year Life of Mine (LOM) and eighteen months production to measured confidence.
- Manage accurate geological data and sample acquisition from two reverse circulation & eleven diamond rigs. Deliver and process samples to the onsite laboratory, conducting QAQC to industry standards.
- Supervise Grade Control, Resource estimates and Reserve generation to NI43101 accreditation standards, completing appropriate reporting as required.
- Lead a positive culture within the Geology team that steers geologists and technicians towards their full potential by challenging, coaching and mentoring them.
- Identify Resource conversion additions and short term mining opportunities to meet company objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement, investigate new innovative technologies to advance the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the MRM activities.
- Conduct half yearly performance reviews of all direct reports.
- Liaise and interact with Tanzanian Government Departments, External Contractors and Consultants to ensure that North mara interests are represented and protected.
Roles and Responsibilities on Health and Safety
- Drive and maintain MRM’s Journey to Zero programs.
- Ensure all team members are aware of and committed to their DUTY of CARE responsibilities.
- Ensure all critical controls have been implemented and confirmed on any task involving Fatal Risk.
- Complete at least 2x Critical Control Verifications per week, conduct safety audits and interactions.
- Ensure all team members are provided a safe working environment including working tools & PPE.
- Ensure all NMGM safe work practices and procedures are followed at all times.
- Limit exposure to incidents/ accidents, encourage near-miss reporting and ensure all accidents or incidents are reported immediately.
- Ensure the workforce comply with applicable legislation and site-specific requirements.
- Actively participate in incident and accident investigations as required (ICAM).
- Drive participation in safety management and toolbox meetings.
- Lead and supervise to ensure field level risk assessments (FLRA) are completed for all new tasks, to a high standard and that all safety hazards are formally raised are addressed.
- Ensure that personnel are trained and ticketed for their designated tasks.
- Correct unsafe or workplace conditions that compromise the health of our people.
- Ensure that facilities, plant, and equipment are being used safely and for the appropriate work method.
- Ensure and maintain compliance to mine planning, design, and profile standards.
- Ensure and maintain compliance on based job safety analysis (JHA) completed accurately for every task without a Standard Operating Procedure.

- Directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the environmental management system.

- Supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their area of responsibility.
Qualification requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in Geology or related field required.
- Registered member in a Professional Geoscientist Organisation
Experience and competencies needed.
- 5+ years in a Superintendent/ Senior Mine Geologist or equivalent role, 3+ years managing teams.
- Demonstrated experience as a safety leader within a geology department.
- 3D software capability in Maptek Vulcan/Leapfrog or similar; advanced skills in MS Office Software package and Acquire Database Software package. Exposure to OrePro3D, advanced Reconciliation and material movements databases a bonus.
- A valid Driver’s License (manual-class license), experienced driving on a mine site.
- Intermediate Skills in Geological Block Modeling, Reserve Evaluations, Orebody Reconciliation, Geostatistical Analysis and Report writing.
- Advanced Skills in Cost Analysis, Geological Budget Preparation and Management of near-mine exploration programs.
- Advanced understanding of geology, structure and mechanisms of mineralization in gold deposits.
- Sound judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

About the Team
The North Mara gold mine is located in north-west Tanzania in the Tarime district of the Mara region. It is around 100 kilometres east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometres south of the Kenyan border.
North Mara started commercial production in 2002. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits, Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open pit). The process plant has the capacity to process an average of 8,000 tonnes of ore per day.
