Job Description
To ensure that all tyre machines are attended in a daily basis. Also to ensure tyre management and work requirement of Engineering – Tyre Section at GGML is carried out efficiently and safely and to identify upcoming work for planning with other departments and contractors on site.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with OTR Tyre management level two or above (certified with approved Tyre Management training institute).
- The incumbent must have a valid Tanzania driving license.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in OTR tyre management – Mining industry.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Tyre fitting skills – correct and safe use of tyre fitting tools and equipment.
- Repair and re-grooving skills – correct and safe use of repair and re-grooving tooling and equipment.
- Ability to understand tyre sizes and applications (advising client and ability to discuss with tyre manufacturer reps).
- Ability to understand tyre failure causes and analysis.
- Tyre fitting skills – correct and safe use of tyre fitting tools and equipment.
- Repair and re-grooving skills – correct and safe use of repair and re-grooving tooling and equipment.
- Understanding safe methods of work procedures and safety performance measures.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Participate in daily and weekly safety meetings on site, raise and address issues.
- Ensure safe working procedures are being always followed.
- Ensure site conditions permit tyre fitting work to be carried out safely, highlight areas to be addressed.
- Self-driving on attending equipment break downs at the field & provide feedback to supervisor immediately.
- Perform equipment checks and calibrations according to GGML Standard Work.
- Fit and remove wheels from any type of vehicle according to GGML Standard Work Procedures.
- Mount and strip any type of tyre and rim assembly according to GGML Standard Work Procedures.
- Perform repairs to tyres and tubes according to GGML Standard Work Procedures.
- Operate forklifts and all other types of tyre handlers according to GGML Standard Work Procedures.
- Clean, paint and crack test rim components according to GGM Standard Work Procedures
- Perform Inspections and determine the suitability of wheel components to remain in service.
- Maintain tyre operating pressures in accordance with GGML standard.
- Ensure all tyre data collected is as accurate as possible and is applicable in GGML.
- Ensure all documentation on site is filed and stored promptly and is auditable.
- Maintain sufficient stock on site of rims, rim components, rim soap, sealant, tyres etc., and regularly audit to maintain correct levels.
- Perform tire fitter duties if required, or any other duties allocated.
