Job Description

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit Wash Bay Attendant to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Use pressure-washing equipment on required items per wash bay process.
  • Clean the interiors of the Trucks per wash bay process.
  • Liaise with superior to receive work assignments and discuss day-to-day operational requirement, achievements and improvements.
  • Perform daily cleaning of designated area without causing a disruption to the workforce.
  • Ensure proper usage of cleaning chemicals, detergents in right proportions as instructed by the supervisor for cleaning and disinfecting purposes.
  • Follow various cleaning methods such as washing, sweeping, dusting, moping, scrubbing, polishing etc. in line with the directions from the superior.
  • Empty wastebaskets and effectively manage and store all refuse in the assigned disposable area 
  • Wash and sanitize, as well as maintain all equipment provided.
  • Secure and acknowledge room and office keys from Site Services Foreman’s office
  • Assist in movement and storage of raw materials and equipment as necessary.
  • Request for cleaning supplies to supervisor well in advance to avoid delay /disruption of service. 
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and Hygiene at all times. 
  • Perform any other task assigned by his superior within the scope of the job.

Qualification requirements

  • Secondary school education.
  • Sound knowledge of Mining Safety Regulations and best practice.

Experience and Competencies needed

  • Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning and associated equipment usage
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experienced in maintenance practices and techniques.
