Job Description
Department: Health and Community
Reports to: Mine Medical Doctor
Roster: 6 Weeks ON, 3 Weeks OFF
Contract: Open Ended
ROLE PURPOSE
To provide high-quality nursing care, support occupational health service and assist in the implementation of health programmes to ensure the health safety and well-being of employees and contractors at New Luika Gold Mine.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide clinical nursing care including patient assessment, triage, medication administration and monitoring of patient conditions.
- Assist in occupational health medical surveillance (pre-employment, periodic, return-to-work and exit medical examinations) and maintain accurate records.
- Provide first-line treatment for work-related injuries and assist with statutory injury documentation and WCF claims.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures (ECG, spirometry, audiometry, rapid tests, sample collection) and ensure proper documentation.
- Support emergency response, resuscitation and evacuation procedures and maintain BLS certification.
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-equipped clinical environment and manage stock levels of medical consumables.
- Contribute to workplace health risk assessments, health promotion and disease prevention initiatives.
- Maintain statutory occupational health registers and assist with reports for OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Support health education, vaccination programmes and community health initiatives.
- Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor/HOD.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent.
- Full registration and valid practising licence with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
- At least two (2) years’ post-registration clinical experience, of which at least one (1) year in an industrial, mining or occupational health setting.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Good clinical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work in a remote site environment and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
