Gear Store Foreman at DP World Tanzania

Monitor and control deployment and maintenance of Lifting gears to ensure the safe and efficient

handling of cargo. This role ensuring proper lifting gear utilization, inspection, identification of defects, segregation and their safekeeping in designated area per SOP. The Gear Store Foreman also tracks performance, identifies and addresses potential issues, and ensures compliance with safety standards, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of terminal operations.

Key Performance Areas

• Ascertain availability of the lifting gears in every shift - in consideration the ongoing tasks,
• emergency, corrective or preventive maintenance – and supply to POW immediately.
• Ensure proper gears are identified and planning is made for the required lifting gears and manpower for every shift.
• Constantly monitor operations to ensure utilization of proper lifting gear especially during complicated/ heavy cargo to avoid damages and risks of accidents.
• Identify, isolate, and remove defective gears from operations.
• Participate in receiving of new stock (verification, sorting, and proper safe keeping).
• Initiate good communication and act as a focal point between the execution teams.
• Communicate deviations from initial planning if any, to operations and planning on time.
• Supervise routine housekeeping of gear store.
• Participate in in gear inspection and certification programs as per approved schedule (SOP).
• Maintain daily gear utilization records (logbook & register).
• Conduct mandatory TBT at start of every shift.

Qualifications Required

• Certificate in Port and Terminals, Logistics (preferable).
• Rigging & Slinging certificate (preferable).

Experience and Skills Required

• Expose to hazardous conditions.
• Expose to unconditional weather.
• Work experience in terminal operating system or any equipment allocation system (preferable).
