Job Description
Job Purpose Statement
To highlight exceptions or violations to policy or regulations for prompt corrective action through regular reporting, ensuring compliance with the Consumer Protection Guidelines and Data protection regulations and submit periodic reports as stipulated by the regulators.
Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)
Internal customer & internal business efficiency (50%)
Data Protection
- Develop and implement systems, mechanisms and procedures in line with the Data Protection Laws locally and internationally.
- Clearly define and articulate the data protection compliance obligations for each functional area and department of the Bank with clear allocation of compliance responsibility.
- Assist staff in understanding and applying the applicable laws, in relation to Data Protection management and providing updates regarding local and international industry and legislative developments.
- Make practical and acceptable recommendations where systems and procedures are in need of enhancement to ensure a robust data Protection program.
- Under the supervision of the Compliance Manager, Coordinate and maintain regulator relationships to ensure ease of communication, information sourcing with regard to the Bank’s data protection obligations.
- Conduct an annual risk assessment relating to the Data Protection Program of the Bank.
- Prepare reports regarding the Data Protection status of the Bank.
- Provide relevant, timely, accurate and value-adding reports to key stakeholders- Management and external customers e.g. regulators among others
- Deliver and facilitate training on compliance and financial Risk matters.
Customer (30%)
Drive customer satisfaction through adherence to set service Level Agreements and issuing timely feedback to stakeholders.
Financial (10%)
Monitor and maintain compliance related expenses within budget.
Learning and growth (10%)
- Identify self-development and training needs and develop plans to satisfy areas identified for continuous improvement.
- Develop personal motivation and presentation skills for effective communication and execution of duties.
Job Specifications
Academic Qualifications:
- A University graduate.
- Professional qualification/Post graduate qualification in Risk/Compliance Management or Law from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
Work Experience:
1.5 to 3 years’ working experience in a Banking environment, with sound exposure to bank Operations, Regulatory and Compliance requirements.
