The Key Purpose is to set up, program, and operate CNC machinery to produce high‑quality components in line with manufacturing specifications, while maintaining strict safety standards, optimising production processes, ensuring equipment reliability, and contributing to continuous improvement through quality control, cost reduction, and technical problem-solving initiatives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish & maintain high standards of safety & 5s in a workshop environment.
  • Interpret Manufacturing drawings.
  • Able to program CNC machines & produce G-code (Manual & MasterCAM/Autodesk or similar).
  • Implement proper workflow systems to streamline production output.
  • Prepare, set and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling & turning.
  • Supervise the machines while they execute tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce better results.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements.
  • Drive cost savings initiatives in a workshop environment by reducing waste & prolonging tool life.
  • Participate in Root cause and component failure analysis.
  • Participate in design reviews to improve product designs.
  • Check, clean & maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
  • Coach and guide learners

Key Attributes and Competencies:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex projects of a significant number
  • High level of resilience and ability to operate in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings

Minimum Requirements:

  • Min – Relevant trade qualification (fitter and turner/ toolmaker / turner)
  • Prior Engineering workshop experience, operating CNC machinery.
  • A minimum of 2 years using FANUC controls
  • Experience in using CAD/CAM software, Autodesk Inventor would be advantageous
  • A superior performance track record
