Responsibilities 

• Directing, coaching, and motivating underground development teams, including supervisors, engineers, and other personnel. 
• Overseeing the planning, design, and execution of underground development projects, including shaft sinking, tunnel excavation, and infrastructure construction. 
• Ensuring adherence to all safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices throughout underground development activities. 
• Managing project budgets, monitoring costs, and implementing cost-saving measures to ensure projects are completed within budget. 
• Monitoring project progress, preparing regular reports, and analyzing performance to identify areas for improvement. 
• Collaborating with other departments (e.g., mine planning, operations, engineering) to ensure alignment and effective communication. 
• Possessing strong technical knowledge and skills in underground mining, including mine development techniques, geotechnical principles, and engineering practices. 
• Identifying opportunities for process improvement and innovation to enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity in underground development. 
• Ensuring compliance with industry codes of practice and standards, as well as environmental and community relations policies. 

Qualification requirements

• A degree in Mining Engineering 
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.

Experience and Competencies needed

• At least five (10) years’ experience in underground development Management role.
• Experience and knowledge on development operations.
• Experience in multiple mining regions, and mining methodologies.
• Knowledge and understanding of reading Mining plans and ability to follow specifications.
