Job Description
We are hiring a Lodge Manager to lead operations at one of our premium lodges in Tanzania. This role is ideal for a Tanzanian national with proven experience in luxury hospitality, team leadership, and guest engagement. The Lodge Manager will oversee a multidisciplinary team and ensure that every guest experience reflects the highest standards of service, comfort, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily lodge operations across all departments (F&B, housekeeping, front office, maintenance)
- Personally welcome guests, oversee their lodge journey, and ensure satisfaction throughout their stay
- Supervise a team of 50+ staff, ensuring professionalism, motivation, and efficiency
- Ensure proper implementation of standards in service, cleanliness, safety, and facility upkeep
- Liaise with guides and drivers as guests arrive or depart the lodge
- Review and validate operational reports, stock records, and maintenance logs
- Supervise off-site finance and procurement teams; ensure accurate reporting via SAP and ResRequest
- Identify operational improvements without micromanaging individual departments
- Ensure health and safety compliance and respond effectively to incidents
Qualifications
- Tanzanian citizen with fluency in English and Swahili
- Minimum 10 years of management experience in a lodge or luxury hospitality property
- Strong interpersonal skills with a guest-first approach
- Familiarity with SAP and ResRequest systems preferred
- Comfortable living in a remote setting with scheduled leave rotations
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams while maintaining high performance and morale
This is a live-in role with full accommodation and meals provided. The position is based in a remote natural setting and requires adaptability, integrity, and dedication to delivering a world-class guest experience.
