Technician 2, Exploration Core Yard (4 Positions) at Geita Gold Mine Tanzania

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Support geological and geotechnical exploration activities across field campaigns, drilling programs, and Core Yard operations to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant exploration outcomes.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Lead HSE compliance by conducting toolbox meetings, identifying hazards with the team, and implementing control measures.
• Perform in-field geological mapping; assist with rock sampling and accurate recording of geological information, including GPS.
• Oversee drill site preparation and Technician 1 to deliver quality access roads and drilling platforms, adhering to steep terrain procedures.
• During drilling, document diamond core recovery, oversee RC sampling quality and best practices, and verify rig setup and collar alignment.
• Conduct geotechnical logging and Core Yard activities; manage sampling and preparation for laboratory analysis; keep the project geologist informed of drilling progress.
• Support ground geophysical surveys and downhole survey quality control; communicate deviations; coach subordinates and stop work when unsafe.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Diploma in Geology or Geoscience related fields.
• Extensive equivalent field experience in the same field for Secondary School Certificate holders.

Experience

• Minimum of 3–5 years of working experience for Diploma holders.
• Over 7 years working experience in exploration drilling environments, geotechnical logging, and field data collection for Secondary School Certificate holders.

Knowledge & Skills

• Computer literacy in MS Excel and MS Word.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Good experience in exploration drilling operations, geotechnical logging, and field data collection.
• Strong commitment to HSE practices and operational standards.
• Driving experience with valid Tanzanian driving license or mine site driving permit (mandatory).
• Able to work with minimal supervision and lead small teams.
• Tanzanian Citizen.
