Butler-Caregiver in Usa River, Arusha

Experienced male Butler/Houseman/Caregiver is needed for a household of 2 people, based in Usa River, Arusha.

Job description include the following main duties:

• • Do all housekeeping work, including * cleaning the entire house (3 bedrooms with 1 lounge, dining area, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 verandas), * washing dishes, * making beds, * washing laundry by hand, * ironing clothes, * hanging curtains, * cleaning floors, * cleaning windows, * cleaning walls, * cleaning 2 bathrooms, * cleaning cupboards, * cleaning verandas. [Clothes ironing skills will be tested during interview process.]

• • Plan and cook/prepare two basic meals per day (for 3 people, i.e. 2 residents + for the employee himself). {Meals must preferably be Western or Mediterranean, but can have some Tanzanian elements to it.} [Basic culinary skills will be tested during interview process.]

• • Running & managing the household's limited operational budget.

• • Take care of household shopping, including groceries, fruit, vegetables, cooking utensils (when needed), cleaning supplies, maintenance supplies, etc.

• • Run errands for employer, e.g. couriering of packages, collecting orders from shops in Arusha, exchange currency, deliveries, scout for suppliers of services/goods, etc.

• • Organize, administer & manage various services that employer might require (e.g. specialized repair services, home-visit tailoring, home shopping, doctor/dentist appointments, physiotherapy, hair grooming, etc.).

• • Design, implement and assist employer with a fitness and physical strength program. Also source a home personal trainer who can help to facilitate this fitness & strength program.

• • Basic male caregiving, only when necessary (e.g. assist with daily ablutions/shower, shaving, grooming, getting dressed, checking on medication to take, etc.).

• • Assisting with early morning household routines, e.g. coffee, tea, packing work breakfast/lunch, etc.

• • Organizing interior design, cupboards, furniture in a practical way.

• • Dealing with landlord & gardener.

• • Ensuring security & water supply of house.

• • Occasional driving duties.

Candidate requirements:

• • Must be a male.
  • Unmarried & single.
  • Drivers license.
  • Very good English proficiency [English speaking, understanding & writing skills will be tested during interview process]
  • Good understanding of running a household on a limited budget.
  • Must be able to function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proper discretion & professionalism in dealing with daily work.
  • Friendly, take-charge disposition.
  • Showing great initiative.
  • Preferably older than 26 years (candidates older than 30 years will be given preference).
  • Complete honesty & trustworthiness.
  • Working hours:
  • *  Must be able to start work very early on some of the mornings (e.g. 05:30am on +/- 3 days per week) but then the workday typically ends at 2:30pm on those days.
  • *  On normal workdays the working hours would be from 7am to 3pm (or 4pm latest).
  • *  On some days the working hours could be from 7am to 11am + 6pm to 9pm, depending on the employers schedule and needs at that stage.
  • *  Employee will be required to work a minimum of 2 Saturday mornings (4 to 5 hours) per month, up to a maximum of 3 Saturday mornings per month.
  • *  Employee will be required to work on a maximum of 2 Sundays per month, for 4 to maximum 5 hours only.
