Job Description

The role of the Systems Administrator is to support and manage all Ewallet Systems and environment, this includes the following areas: -

  • To manage operating systems, most times Unix based OS.
  • To manage patches for Operating systems
  • To scan and manage security vulnerabilities for the Operating systems (Unix)
  • To manage operating systems users and ensure they comply to company policies.
  • To manage application services, OS users for applications.
  • To manage database installation, configurations, tuning
  • To manage database replications (master-master)
  • To manage database partitioning
  • To manage load balancers, application load balancers, Haproxy
  • To manage monitoring tools – Grafana is preferable
  • To manage web application servers, and configure ssl certificates
  • Administration and management of all LINUX and UNIX servers which are owned or managed by ewallet (This requires a solid background in working with commandline UNIX/LINUX)
  • Administration of Web servers (NGIX and APACHE). This includes installation, configuration
  • Management of SSL certificates. This includes managing their expiration dates and installing and configuring in web servers or application servers
  • To harden Unix servers
  • To update systems process manuals.
  • To perform troubleshooting for all Ewallet systems.
  • To record and document all faults/errors reported or found in the systems
  • To perform tests according to planned schedules, or after any patch, development or deployment.
  • To monitor security system performance logs to identify problems and notify security specialists when problems occur.
  • To document technical factors such as server load, bandwidth and database performance.
  • To provide guidance, leadership and direction to all junior or neighbors team under EWALLET, and ensure they are familiar with all our systems/projects also, the tools for easily supporting them.
  • Consulting with staff, managers, and executives about the best security practices and providing technical advice.
  • Configuring and supporting security tools, such as firewalls and anti-virus software.
  • Utilize PowerShell scripts to automate system administrative tasks.
  • Resolve all security clearance issues between E-WALLET AFRICA LIMITED and its associated customers or stake holders
  • Review security logs and violation reports from ewallet internal and external systems.
  • Analyze, locate and diagnose hosts affect by malicious code and phishing attempts.
  • Work with management to ensure that the firm's security encryption policies are enforced.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer engineering cyber security, or a related field. A solid knowledge in working with command line Unix/Linux is a must, Advanced training certifications may be advantageous.

Good experience in operating systems support, database support and load balancing.

 

Experience in Unix, Linux, Solaris and Windows, Relational database (MARIADB/MYSQL is a must), Advanced excel, web-based technologies.

 

  • A strong knowledge experience in Relational database management systems, e.g. MariaDB, MySQL
  • Advanced excel usage for data analysis
  • Advanced OS commands, especially Unix
  • Web service technology (XML & JSON over https)
  • Advanced SQL scripting
  • Basic graphics
  • Experience with configuring Nodejs and related technologies
  • Knowledge and experience of modern three tier architecture.
  • Experience with a Unix shell such as bash or ssh.
  • Good interpersonal and team-working skills.
  • Good problem analysis and solving skills.

 

  • Good experience in support and managing Operating systems
  • Relational Database Management Systems

  • Experience in most popular data analysis tools, Excel, Python, R
  • Writing advanced Unix Shell script
